LinkDrop is one of the quickest ways to share and install apps on a Fire TV Stick that still supports sideloading. The important part in 2026 is compatibility, because Fire OS devices can still use it, while newer Vega OS Fire Sticks cannot.

Check your Fire Stick first

LinkDrop works on Fire TV Stick models that run Fire OS and still allow sideloading.

As of July 2026, LinkDrop remains functional on Fire TV Stick models running Fire OS. Older models like the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus and Fire TV Stick 4K Max can still use tools like LinkDrop.

Newer Vega OS models, including the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and Fire TV Stick HD (2026), do not support installing apps from outside Amazon's official app store. If you have one of those, LinkDrop will not be useful on that device.

To use LinkDrop, you need:

  1. A compatible Fire TV Stick running Fire OS.
  2. A stable Wi-Fi connection.
  3. Downloader installed.
  4. Unknown sources enabled for Downloader.

If you need the basic setup, use my full guides for Fire Stick sideloading, Developer Options, or the complete Fire Stick jailbreak setup. Those cover the generic parts so you do not have to guess through the settings.

The easiest way to get LinkDrop and other stores

If you are setting up a Fire Stick from scratch, use TV Wizard first. It saves time because it adds the main app stores for you.

  1. Open Downloader.
  2. Type newstore.tv.
  3. Install TV Wizard, my own setup app.
  4. Use it to install the app stores for you, including LinkDrop, Unlinked, and LinkBase.

That is the easiest route because you skip adding each store one by one.

If you only want LinkDrop directly:

  1. Open Downloader.
  2. Type linkdrop.store.
  3. Click Explore the collection to open the library.

If you also want Unlinked:

  1. Open Downloader.
  2. Type unlinked.link.
  3. Install Unlinked.
  4. Choose New Library.
  5. Enter the code firestick.

How to use LinkDrop to install apps

Once LinkDrop is open, the basic flow is simple.

  1. Open Downloader on your Fire Stick.
  2. Go to linkdrop.store.
  3. Select Explore the collection.
  4. Browse the app library.
  5. Pick the app you want.
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it.
  7. Open the app after installation finishes.

If the Fire Stick blocks the install, go back to your Fire TV settings and allow unknown apps for Downloader. The exact menu can vary by Fire OS version, so use the Developer Options guide if the setting is hidden.

How to share apps with another Fire Stick

The easiest way to share an app through LinkDrop is to share the LinkDrop address and the app name.

On the other Fire Stick:

  1. Confirm the device runs Fire OS, not Vega OS.
  2. Install Downloader if it is not already installed.
  3. Enable unknown sources for Downloader.
  4. Open Downloader and type linkdrop.store.
  5. Select Explore the collection.
  6. Search or browse for the same app name.
  7. Install it from the LinkDrop library.

This is cleaner than moving APK files around manually. The other person opens the same library and installs the app directly on their own Fire Stick.

Apps worth starting with in LinkDrop

If you are not sure what to install first, start with apps from TV Wizard or LinkDrop instead of hunting around random sites.

Good options currently available through the store include:

  1. Bear Player
  2. CinePlus
  3. FlixVision Ad-Free
  4. BeeTV no longer works. Install CinePlus instead.
  5. OnStream
  6. Moviebox
  7. Cinema HQ
  8. StreamFlix
  9. Voltra TV
  10. OceanStreamz Ad-Free
  11. FilmPlus Ad-Free
  12. HDO Box

If an app crashes or does not fit your screen properly, try another app from the same library. Some apps are better optimized for Fire TV controls than others.

I recommend IPVanish on Fire TV devices.

For the simplest setup:

  1. Get IPVanish.
  2. Open the app and sign in.
  3. Connect to a United States server with WireGuard.
  4. Open LinkDrop or the app you installed.

That is the only VPN setup you need for this.

Fix LinkDrop problems

LinkDrop will not open

Check the URL first. It should be linkdrop.store.

If the address is correct, restart Downloader, reconnect Wi-Fi, and try again. If your connection is unstable, downloads can fail before the install screen appears.

Install is blocked

Unknown sources is not enabled for Downloader.

Open Fire TV settings and allow Downloader to install unknown apps. If Developer Options is missing, follow the steps here: Fire Stick Developer Options.

The app downloads but will not install

Common causes are low storage, an incomplete download, or an app version that is not a good fit for Fire TV.

Delete the failed download, clear a little space, restart the Fire Stick, then try again. If the same app keeps failing, pick another app from LinkDrop.

The app installs but crashes

Some apps are not optimized well for Fire TV Stick. Try clearing the app cache first. If it still crashes, uninstall it and use another app from the LinkDrop collection.

Nothing works on a new Fire Stick

Check whether the device is running Vega OS. Fire TV Stick 4K Select and Fire TV Stick HD (2026) do not support sideloading, so LinkDrop cannot install apps on those models.

Fire Stick alternatives if you need sideloading

If your new Fire Stick runs Vega OS and sideloading is the feature you care about most, use a device that still supports it.

Good alternatives include:

  1. Onn 4K Pro
  2. Google TV Streamer
  3. NVIDIA Shield TV Pro

These are better choices if you want more flexibility with app installs in 2026.
